Most adults today can remember a time when a trip to see elaborately decorated department store windows was a family holiday tradition. The Summit County Historical Society also remembers that time, and is bringing back that family tradition with a twist.
Presenting a new holiday family event, Tales of Christmas Past - A Christmas Event in the Historical Tradition, the Summit County Historical Society would like to invite you to visit the historic Perkins family home, richly decorated for the holidays.
Held on the grounds of the Summit County Historical Society, located on the corner of South Portage Path and Copley Road, the Perkins Stone Mansion and Wash House, which will be decorated by Pamela Bayer Interiors, will be transformed for the holidays by local, professional interior designers. This is an excellent opportunity to see the latest styles in holiday design, and to discover some unique and distinctive ideas for use in your own home.
To add to the holiday merriment, each interior designer will be decorating their room on behalf of a charitable organization. Pamela's designated charity is the Children's Memorial Hospital of Chicago, in honor of family friend Matthew Zehner.
After touring the home, each guest will have the chance to vote for their favorite room. At the conclusion of Tales of Christmas Past, the room with the most votes will win 10% of the event proceeds, a wonderful way for any charity to wrap up the holidays!
In addition, special events will be held throughout the month, featuring carolers, a visit from Santa, and more that you won't want to miss. When you have completed your tour through the Mansion and Wash House, the Summit County Historical Society Carriage House will be open to all for a complimentary cup of coffee or cider and some delicious holiday cookies. A gift boutique will be also available for some quick holiday shopping.
So start a new family tradition that has its roots in the past. Join us for Tales of Christmas Past - A Christmas Event in the Historical Tradition, presented by the Summit County Historical Society.
