Local designers deck the halls of historic mansion for charity

The Summit County Historical Society is once again combining seasonal decorating and charitable giving, with "Home For the Holidays, A Truly Designer Event."
The rooms of Perkins Stone Mansion, the historic home of Col. Simon Perkins, and the Wash room have been decorated by local designers. Each participating designer was given a room to decorate for the holidays, and each selected a local charitable organization.
After touring the home, each guest will have the chance to vote for their favorite room. At the conclusion of "Home for the Holidays," the room with the most votes will win 10 percent of the event proceeds for their designated charity.
Some of the featured designers include:
* Lynne Dowling and Libby Upton from Yellow Creek Trading Company in Peninsula, who decorated the formal dining room. Dowling and Upton have selected the Alzheimer's Association as their charity;
* Tallmadge designers Janice Mosko and Christy Krainess of Greenbriar Florist, who decorated the second floor landing. Mosko and Krainess have designated Access, Inc., an emergency shelter for homeless women and children as their charity;
* Cuyahoga Falls interior designer Jim Pesce of James Pesce Designs, who decorated the historic kitchen. Pesce has selected Mental Health America of Summit County as his designated charity;
* Hudson interior designer Pamela Bayer of Pamela Bayer Interiors, who decorated the main room of the Wash House. Bayer has selected the MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute of Ohio and the Jesse Blake Foundation as her designated charity; and
* Silver Lake interior designer Cindy Pastoria of Cindy Pastoria Designs, who decorated the bedroom. Pastoria has selected the Akron Children's Hospital as her designated charity.
The Summit County Historical Society also will host several special events throughout the holidays, including a visit from Santa on Dec. 8 from 1 until 4 p.m.
Event hours are Wednesdays through Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. through Dec. 22. Event tickets are purchased at the door, and cost $7 per adult and $1 for children 12 and under. Seniors and groups of 10 or more are $5 per adult. Parking is free.
