Designer ShowHouse transports guests to 1920s

By Betty O'Neill-Roderick

The Roaring '20s came alive at Perkins Stone Mansion on Friday evening for the gala preview of the Junior League of Akron Designer ShowHouse 2006.

Bill Considine looked dapper in his black and white gangster attire, fitting right in with the flappers, for whom Cindy Murphy and Chris Petracca provided white fur boas. Kathy Romito kept busy lighting the luminaries along the walkways.

Terri Nass Reeder, president of the Junior League, co-chaired the event along with Ann Wehener and Janis Worley.

Guests enjoyed a '20s-themed dinner served by BRAVO! Fine Cuisine in a white tent on the lawn where The Eric Letta Jazz Quartet entertained. Neil Leeson's lovely flower arrangements matched the fuchsia and orange color scheme.

Inside the mansion, Becky Considine enlisted her dad, Don Kenrich, to play the grand piano in the parlor. Across the hall, designer Joel Wolfgang gave the library a transitional look.

Paula Miller and Michelle Bailey portrayed social butterflies in the dining room, and Barbara Dillick welcomed guests to the new kitchen.

Pamela Bayer transformed the Wash House into a charming guest cottage, where architect Brian Reeder decorated the bath. Enjoying the tour were Polly and Joe Chase, Ann Brennan, Francie Repetti, Susie Fernandez and Cathy Rumble.

The Designer ShowHouse 2006 will be open to the public Wednesday through Sunday, June 3-25.
