The library in the historic Perkins family home in Akron was the winner this year in the Summit County Historical Society's "Home for the Holidays, A Truly Designer Event."
Decorated in a "North Pole Comes to the Mansion" theme, the room was designed by Robin Brechbuhler of Brechbuhler Interior Design in Canton.
Perkins Stone Mansion and Wash House was transformed for the holidays by designers who decorated their rooms on behalf of local charitable organizations.
Guests could vote for their favorite, with the winning room's designated charity receiving 10 percent of the event proceeds.
Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary in Ravenna was the recipient of Brechbuhler's success.
The other participating designers and charities were Pamela Bayer, Pamela Bayer Interiors, MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute of Ohio and the Jesse Blake Foundation; Susan Kotapish and Marjorie Ranftl, Humane Society of Greater Akron; Janice Mosko and Christy Krainess, Greenbriar Florist, Access, an emergency shelter for homeless women and children.
